DOWNTOWN.   Thelma's is just the sort of place that fans of local fare crave. It's simple, well-regarded, and the food is out of this world. Years of experience ensure that everything is perfectly prepared, from ribs and brisket to sweet potatoes and dirty rice. You can also rest easy knowing that you'll have plenty to eat, because portions are hospitably generous. Realize that you'll eat from paper plates and often with your fingers, and remember that if you get there too late, it's likely that the barbecue will already have been sold out.   (© 10Best)

I have tried Thelma's on 3 different occasions. If you catch the 1st batch of barbeque for the lunch menu then the meat will be tender and the sauce is good. After the lunch rush they usually run out and will cook more meat for the dinners this is when it is tough. The sides are not good. So the key is to go during lunchtime.

I don't understand what all fuss is about. This was some of worst barbecue I have ever tasted. The meat was very tuff and the sides were bland. Please don't waste your money.
