GALLERIA.
An Art Deco interior sets this intimate steakhouse apart from the pretenders, and brass accents, dark woods, and cozy leather chairs give the place a men's-club ambience. Featured entrees include an 18-oz. NY strip, fresh lobster, marinated veal chop, prime rib, and 6-oz. filet mignon, all cooked to order and served with fresh seasonal vegetables. After dinner, it's not uncommon for business folks to make their way to the smoker's lounge for a scotch and a premium cigar.

This is to close to roasted meat instead of being smoked with real good flavor. Understandably, not all people like BBQ the same, but to me so many rib joints are losing the original concept of what BBQ is about 'til it seems an art has been lost.

A couple of weeks ago I took my daughter to Pappa Bros. for her birthday. Service was good, but the food was marginal. How sad. The steaks had too much black pepper and the sides were horrific. My daughter who has loved spinach in any form since she was three years old wouldn't take a second bite of their creamed spinach. The potatoe dish was tasteless. I will give credit where credit is due, the crab cakes were the best I've ever tasted. Good place for an appetizer, but if you really want a great steak and good sides, you can't beat Ruth Chris Steakhouse.

You can find a great steakhouse on every block in Texas, but Pappas isn't one of them. I've had steak served up at some of the finest restaurants in the world, but you can't beat a good Texas steak and Pappas just isn't it. In the many years I've gone to steak restaurants I've never had to send my steak back until I ate at Pappas. I ordered a $40 filet and it tasted like it had been frozen, thawed out, seared and put on my plate. It was the worst steak I had ever had. Then the waiter had the nerve to only offer me a free dessert rather than bringing me another steak. Finally the manager came over and offered another steak at which time I declined. It was removed from my bill but I will never eat there again. Other Pappas restuarants serve up great food, but for steak, don't go to Pappas.
