WEST END. Early on, Central City was a manufacturing hub for the Tri-State region. Founded in 1893, the community was annexed by the City of Huntington in 1909, and the area soon came to be regarded as West Huntington. These days, business owners and civic leaders have made a renewed effort to recreate the community's 19th-century look and feel, renaming it Old Central City. Home to abundant antique shops and boutiques, the district offers a charming glimpse of life as it was more than 100 years ago, especially when a special event is going on in the gazebo at the park (on the 500 block of West 14th Street). In addition, Central City Market and Huntington Farmer's Market are located here.
