Overview

Located in the heartland of the Mid-Atlantic, Huntington sits majestically in southwestern West Virginia on the Ohio River, near the borders of Kentucky and Ohio. The vibrant city was named for local industrialist Collis P. Huntington, who first developed the area. Picturesque Victorian homes mark the landscape between the rushing river and Ritter Park, and restored residences include the Jenkins Plantation and the Madie Carroll House. At the Blenko Glass Factory, artisans still use time-tested techniques to blow and shape glass, and 19th-century settler culture comes alive at the Heritage Farm Museum & Village. Sports fans cheer on the Marshall University Thundering Herd at Cam Henderson Center and Marshall Stadium. Music lovers, then, delight in the Museum of Radio & Technology, the largest radio museum on the East Coast, home to radio and television artifacts dating from the 1920s to the 1950s.
