One of Scotland's oldest castles, Urquhart's earliest records date back to the 13th century. Overlooking a craggy jut high above Loch Ness, Edward I lived here before 1308, and the structure was reverted back to the Scottish Crown in 1346. Sitting in disrepair until the turn of the 20th century, the state now runs the castle.
