Named for the centuries old trees that line the street, this structure is the oldest residence in Jackson. Pre-Civil War mayor James Harvey Boyd built the Greek Revival cottage from hand-hewed timber. It served as Union General Sherman's headquarters during the siege of Jackson in 1863 and was spared destruction. It is filled with antiques and period furnishings, including a sofa from Abraham Lincoln's law office in Springfield, Illinois.
