5. Grand Teton National ParkJackson, WY
|
Just off Teton Park Road, a rambling buck-and-rail fence frames a Wyoming pasture with the Teton range rising to the west. Although not quite as old, big, or well known as Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park is definitely a don't miss kind of place. The massive mountains of the Teton Range stretch 40 miles, and include eight mountains over 12,000 feet. Although this is a climber's paradise, if you aren't quite up to tackling the 13,770-foot Grand Teton, there are plenty of more horizontal hiking trails throughout the park. Even a leisurely drive along the main roads will provide stunning views. You may even catch a glimpse of the local inhabitants – wolves, bears, elk, moose, eagles, and falcons. Moose Visitor Center is the only one open year-round. Other visitor centers and services are seasonal. (© 10Best) More Details for Grand Teton National ParkHours: Park open year round.
