2. Elkfest

The Buzz -- Antlers galore! This is the only way to describe the scene of the Town Square on the third Saturday and Sunday in May. This is the largest public auction of antlers in the world, and people from all over come to have their pick of antlers. Local Boy Scout troops gather the antlers from the National Elk Refuge. There is also a street of private individual sales. Antlers are used as decoration in many homes and businesses and rumored to be used in foreign countries as an aphrodisiac when ground up. With 80% of the proceeds going to the Fish and Wildlife agency, the prices are based on per pound amounts, so be aware when bidding!
