9. Snake River Grill

JACKSON.   Situated right on the Town Square, Snake River looks rustic, with exposed log walls and a stone fireplace. But the menu is contemporary all the way. Largely comprised of "small plates" and sharable appetizers, it's ideal for group dining. Local seasonal produce is often featured, such as sautéed morels, or fiddlehead ferns and grilled ramps in brown butter. Other top choices include pizza with venison pepperoni, and an impressive three-tier tasting platter featuring tidbits like olives, marinated artichokes, and white anchovies over asparagus. Follow with an entree like Kentucky fried rabbit leg or roasted elk loin for thoroughly memorable experience. Buffalo, venison, and wild bird dishes- the only thing they don't have are Rocky Mountain Oysters (which couldn't be found in Jackson anywhere!?- oh well...). Don't sit too close to the fireplace- it is VERY hot. And so are the dishes- the food is fabulous. Lots to choose from in the area, and I'd still go back here first!
