6. Huguenot Memorial Park

We had a lovely morning at Huguenot Park. The air was cool and breezy, the beaches very clean, several campers still in their tents, nearby. We parked near the snack area, which also has nice bathrooms, and a soda machine. We walked over a little sand dune, and then walked on the beach. No bugs, no problems. Granted there isn't any shade, but, this is the beach!! Actually, it's a mixture of river and ocean waters, but, still, the park is for people who want to get away from it all, and just sit back and look at the sky and surf.

There were a lot of things we didn't expect being from out of town. There was a lot of noise from helicopters [from the] Navy base; the sand fleas were bad; there is no shade; the camp store [was] poorly stocked; the beach [was] very busy, smelled of diesel fumes, and littered with bottles; and the host camper was rude to us ...
