KALAMAZOO. The restored, Greek Revival DeLano Homestead (completed in 1858 and listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings) and its grounds now serve as home to this nature center, which provides a bundle of educational activities for the entire family. Visit the aptly named Bug House and its plethora of creepy crawlies, the interactive Nature Up Close exhibit, and the Glen Vista Room, host to temporary exhibits of nature-related art. Plant lovers should stop by the Tropical Sun-Rain Room and the 11-acre Arboretum, which contains a hummingbird-butterfly garden in addition to a unique collection of exotic flora. The center boasts more than 8 miles of hiking trails.
