KALAMAZOO. Perhaps the heart and soul of downtown Kalamazoo, Bronson Park provides the setting for myriad outdoor experiences, whether enjoying lunch and a good book under a shade tree, catching a summer concert, or getting in the holiday spirit on Candy Row. The park is named after city founder Titus Bronson, who, as legend has it, spent his first night in this general area in 1829. Today, a small bronze tablet marks the spot where, in 1856, President Abraham Lincoln stopped in Kalamazoo and gave an anti-slavery speech.
