SOUTH HAVEN. This 30-plus mile trail, forged along the route of a former train line, runs from Kalamazoo to the old resort town of South Haven. In the summer, mountain bikers, hikers and runners share the way, enjoying a hodgepodge of scenery that ranges from old, rundown storehouses to unspoiled wetlands. In winter months, activity (and noise levels) really pick up, thanks to cross-country skiers and snowmobile hotshots. Every five miles or so, travelers will find restrooms, and a few convenience stores are easily accessible from the trail.
