KALAMAZOO. WMU, founded in 1903, is Michigan's fourth public university. Today, in addition to the 550-acre main campus, the school operates nine satellite campuses and has a combined student enrollment of close to 30,000. WMU hosts a wide range of events each year, including performances by its award-winning College of Fine Arts and occasional aerial displays by the Sky Broncos, the College of Aviation's intrepid precision flight team. In addition, the school's athletic teams, the brown-and-gold Broncos, compete in the Division I-A Mid-American Conference and have developed a loyal following in this corner of Southwestern Michigan.
