KALAMAZOO. In 1985, after running a home-brewing supply shop for two years, Larry Bell started the the Kalamazoo Brewing Company, and began bottling and selling small-batch craft beers. His operation grew over the years, expanding from a simple warehouse microbrewery to today's 30,000-plus-square-foot Comstock facility. Those who want to sample fresh-from-the barrel brews can visit the Eccentric Cafe, K.B.C.'s very own pub and the first of its kind in Michigan. Here, guests can enjoy their favorite Bell's label along with a bite or two of pub grub. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights usually feature live music.
