BATTLE CREEK. Perhaps one of Battle Creek's more noteworthy dining spots, Clara's sits on the waterfront and occupies the historic Michigan Central Railroad Depot (1888), whose weathered Lake Superior red sandstone and regal clock tower look much as they did in their heyday. The restaurant is decorated with memorabilia related to Battle Creek, including some of Kellogg's first cereal boxes and Bradley Hubbard brass lanterns. The menu features a diverse sampling of fine American and International dishes – prime rib, Cajun meatloaf, and succulent New Zealand orange roughy. Clara's tends to stay busy throughout the year, so reservations are suggested.
