3. Haymarket Historic District

KALAMAZOO.   In its "hayday," farmers gathered in this area for hay auctions. Nowadays, the Haymarket District spans some 55 acres of downtown real estate and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, thanks to its rich heritage and historically significant buildings, which include Italianate, Chicago, and Queen Anne styles. Once known as the German side of town, Haymarket is home to many of Kalamazoo's top restaurants and bars, as well as a unique array of specialty shops.   (© 10Best)
