7. South Town

KALAMAZOO.   Once known as the blue-collar side of town, South Town has long played a pivotal role in the fortunes of Kalazamoo. At one time, so many celery farms flourished on Kazoo's south side (due mostly to its thick, mucky soil), that the entire town became known as "Celery City." Today, the area is recognized for its diverse collection of ethnic restaurants and its locally-owned shops. It's also the southern end of the city's acclaimed pedestrian mall.   (© 10Best)
