DOWNTOWN.   This brewpub's home, the old Gillis Opera House, grants the place turn-of-the-century charm, along with satellite TVs and an impressive sound system. Award-winning house brews include Bomber Blond Ale, Sodbuster Pale Ale, River Market Red, and Flying Crow Porter. An excellent pub-style menu is available, featuring everything from hot wings and nachos to salads and burgers. River Market hosts live bands on weekends, and they never charge a cover. Heard a lot about this place and the beer WAS good, however the seediness of the location and the less than desirable characters that formed the clientele nucleus the day we were there ruined the experience for us---actually felt like we were in a skid row setting.
