DOWNTOWN.   This BBQ joint has a massive following. It's no secret why – brisket sandwiches are renowned for their size and flavor, and the ribs, dry-rubbed before smoking, enjoy a strong reputation as well. Sides include heaping helpings of slaw and pasta salad – the absence of a deep fryer (and thus onion rings and fries) doesn't seem to bother anyone. Dessert is also limited to a few delicious choices, most notably thick fudge brownies. Show up before the noontime rush if possible.   (© 10Best)

Danny Edwards was the worst by far that I have ever eaten.Inside the tables where dirty as well the floor itself. They piled the fries and give very little meat and to top it off their was hair in my food. It sucked!

Some of the Best BBQ in KC
Danny Edwards is now known as Danny Edwards Boulevard Barbecue and is now located at 2900 Southwest Blvd. It has been consistently rated as one of the best bbq joints in KC by Zagat for a number or years and from personal experience, I agree! I have tried many, many, many of the local joints included Arthur Bryant's, Gates, Jackstack, OK Joes, LC's, Smokehouse, BB's, etc. To put it simply, Danny Edwards can hold its own with any of these places and beats most of them. Their sauce is unique, their sides are homeade, and their service is the friendliest of just about any restaurant in the area (not just bbq joints). If you're in town you gotta try them out!

I made my first and sadly what will most likely be my last visit to Danny Edwards Famous Barbeque at its current location. Due to the recent revitalization of the downtown area the building that now houses this fabulous piece of Kansas City barbeque history will be destroyed. If you want to have the true “Eat it and Beat it” experience you have less than 30 days to enjoy this 18-seat lunch legend. If you manage to beat the wrecking ball be sure to remember to kiss the pig for luck and leave room for a brownie. The results of our family’s three-day barbeque crawl produced a unanimous vote for Danny Edwards as our top pick. The meat was smoked to perfection and served up with a smile. The brisket was not only the best we had in Kansas City but also it was arguably the best I have ever tasted. Danny Edwards will be moving to a different location that is larger and more accessible in the near future. He shared his plans to move the original counter style tables and stools as well as their familiar sign to a special spot inside the new location. This should help give future customers a glimpse into the historical past of this downtown icon while it also may lessen the tears of the traditionalists. If you plan to visit please remember they are only open for lunch and parking may be scarce. If the place is filled to the brim they do have picnic tables outside for overflow that provide an excellent view of the pink pig and those who wish to enhance their luck. Our family decided to get there at 10:00 as they opened up. This allowed us to beat the lunch crowd and have the place to ourselves for most of the meal. Why hadn’t we thought of barbeque for breakfast before now? If you are lucky enough to find a parking spot on the street don’t forget to feed the parking meter.
