7. Eo e Emalani i Alaka`i (Queen Emma Festival)

The Buzz -- Commemorating the 19th-century sightseeing trek of much-loved Queen Emma, this October festival encourages attendees to imagine themselves as subjects of the queen (and to act accordingly!). A re-enactment of the procession into the Alaka'i Swamp is the main attraction, followed by a hula, crafts fair, and live music. Many performers compose pieces especially for the festival, enhancing the unique nature of the event and delighting crowds with beautiful music. Families are welcome to bring picnic lunches.
