4. Mediterranean Gourmet

Bad restaurant, slick management
I recently visited Mediterranean Gourmet with my family. I had posted a review on Google but apparently management has the right to have all their reviews removed if they don't like them with the Google site and many of the reviews were not very good. Let's see if 10 Best can keep an honest review and avoid slick tricks. My family and I went to this restaurant, which is suprisingly busy. We first waited for asomeone to acknowledge us upon arrival , then we waited for our waiter to finally come over and take what turned out by the time he showed up our entire order. When he did he actually offered us the kids menu that the hostess never offered my kids. The manager dropped our food on the fly with an unpleasant expression on her face. Towards the end of our meal the barteder started moving tables and stacking chairs. There were still several other tables in the restaurant. Finally, while we were waiting for my husband to go to the bathroom the managers sons came into the restaurant having some sort of altercation wanting their mother and neither of them had shoes on walking throughout the restaurant.

My family and I went to the Mediterranean Gourmet recetly on a trip to Kauai. I was not impressed, this restaurant certainly does not belong on any 10 Best list. Our server was so overwhelmed we coulldn't get any type of service. Our drinks and food took forever. The restaurant was busy but not that busy, there were still plenty of tables open. By the time our food arrived we just wanted to eat and leave. Which is what we did. Our waiter couldn't even bother to clear our dinner plates before we paid our bill and left.

We really enjoyed our experiance here. The food had such wonderful flavors, with beautiful presentation, we almost didn't want to mess up the art work in front of us, almost but not quite. Our waiter was both professional and friendly, clueing us in on the best beaches and what not. There were a couple of classical guitarist, that played through out our meal, a real pleasure. We really enjoyed ourselves and only wish we had found it earlier in our trip. We'll be back on out next trip though.

Can I say "WOW", that just about sums it up for us. The view is amazing, right on the water, the food was incredible and service was both efficient and friendly. You must have the lamb if you go, the best I have ever had. Plus we went on a Wednesday night, which turned out to be there 1/2 off wine night, this was a nice bonus to a truly great evening.

I ate at the Mediterranean Gourmet for the first and last time last night. If I had looked at this website maybe I would have been more wary of going. The service was terrible!!! I can't believe even on Hawaii that waiters can't get an order right, get you a drink or bother to give you a check so you can get your money. The manager was absent most night. She wasn't too worried though, she basically wandered around and hung out at the bar occasionally delivering a drink. The food I have to say was inventive and delicious. If the service had been a little less poor I might have gone back for another try but these people just don't seem to care what is going on. They expect a tip and a repeat customer for not a whole lot. I will go somewhere else with my money.

This was by far the best restaurant we ate at while dinning out on Kauai. The amazing ocean view takes your breath away to start with, we came in for a early dinner and were able to enjoy watching the huge waves crashing on the reefs. All the flavors were perfect in every way. Make sure you have the lamb if you go, I have never had better. It was also a relief to finally find a great wine list, that had many of my favorites on it, it was hard to choose which wine to pick. The service was perfect, and on this island that is huge, we found good service a hard thing to come by during many of our other dinning experances on Kauai. This is truely a hidden gem on Kauai's northshore, definatly worth the drive to this out of the way spot. We will be back on next visit to Kauai.

Have we eaten at the same restaurant? I have been a Med Go fan since shortly after its opening. I have enjoyed eating there at least twice a week for the past two and a half years. The service has always been wonderful and the owners make you feel like family. They have great nightly entertainment- especially the belly dancing!!!! The prices are reasonable, especially considering your on Kauai, and its the BEST food on the island! I should know, I have been in the business for almost twenty years and have worked with phenomenal chefs.

I can't believe that anyone would ever call this restaurant a 10 Best. The service was terrible to the point that food that might have been good hot was so stone cold that it was terrible. The bathrooms stank, no one had obviosly bothered to clean it for a LONG time. For such an expensive restaurant you expect more than what we actually received. The manager didn't seem worried about it though. She was sitting at the bar most of the night. Nice job!
