POIPU.   Lauded for its great service and stunning cuisine, this resort restaurant also deserves kudos for its spectacular setting. Thatched huts surrounding koi ponds and other water features impart a note of authenticity and romance, and the food makes the most of island heritage as well. Locally-caught fish is the specialty, prepared in a variety of savory styles. Buttery charbroiled steaks also please patrons, and daily specials merit extra consideration.
