The original store in Valle Crucis, North Carolina opened in 1883. And though the Mast General Store is new, the building itself is historical. Step in the front door, and prepare to step back a few years. Just like the general stores of yore, a smorgasbord of stuff crams every nook and corner. Price an iron skillet as well the stone-ground cornmeal to fill it. Select a jam, jelly, or jar of maple syrup from the army of goodies lining the shelves. From gourmet salad dressing to handmade rocking chairs, Mast carries a little bit of everything, including the latest lines of clothing and accessories for all kinds of outdoor adventures.
