2. Wesak (Vesak)

The Buzz -- Prayers, offerings, and chants are the center of this Buddhist festival celebrated in May or June. Devotees of Buddha honor the crucial events in his life – birth, enlightenment, and Nirvana. Wesak is a spiritual celebration, and unlike many other festive religious days, activities include alms giving, lectures on Buddhism, and inner reflection.
