The Buzz -- Good overcomes evil during this annual Hindu celebration. Held in October or November, Deepavali is sacred to Hindus, who on the eve of the event meditate in deep prayer. A multitude of tiny lights are lit in worshippers' homes to signify victory over darkness. The next day, after religious prayers and services, homes are opened to friends and family.
