12. Les Moulins de l'Isle-aux-Coudres

ÎLE-AUX-COUDRES.   The Mills of Isle-aux-Coudres make a trip out to this quaint island community worthwhile. Upon finding their way to the island's southwestern corner, visitors can see a working stone windmill and watermill, both dating from the early 19th century. The site's interpretive center is located in the old miller's home and affords visitors the chance to learn more about the history of the area. Make sure you bring along your camera, as there are several ideal vantage points around the mills, some of them boasting the distant mountains as a backdrop on clear days. You can even buy sacks of buckwheat or flour made on the site – great for the folks back home! The mills are a member of the Economuseum Society, preserving old-time crafts.   (© 10Best)
