8. L'Île-aux-Coudres

ÎLE-AUX-COUDRES.   Plan to spend at least half a day exploring this fascinating island, located in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River. First settled in the late 17th century, the Île-aux-Coudres was once the heart of the Charlevoix region's shipbuilding industry. Today, tourism is its primary industry, as many visitors from the mainland flock here each season longing to experience a simpler way of life. Visit the isle's schooner museum and, of course, the famous moulins (mills). The best way to explore the isle is by bicycle – arrangements can be made once you get off the ferry, just follow the signs.   (© 10Best)
