CAP-À-L'AIGLE.   One of the area's premier restaurants, La Pinsonnière offers a combination of elegance and charm that is unmatched. Having received a fair amount of positive press, this beautiful restaurant does not lack for superlatives. Once at your table, take in the romantic ambiance: candlelit tables, light background music, exquisite décor and various pieces of regional art. Among the signature dishes are duck foie gras and succulent quail, served with fresh regional vegetables. Rumor has it that the wine cellar, which contains 750 different labels, is among the best in the province. Reservations are required.   (© 10Best)

I've had the pleasure of staying and dining at La Pinsonnière. I selected this property because of its affiliation with Relais & Châteaux. I am used to staying in luxury hotels (like Relais & Châteaux and Four Seasons) abroad and in North America. My wife and I very much enjoyed La Pinsonnière and plan to return soon. The scenery was spectacular and so was the food and wine cellar. But most of all, we were very impressed with the quality of service. We felt really welcomed.

The food was a very big disappointment, we had great expectations but... Cheddar cheese asparagus souffle was very bland, no cheese flavor that we could find, the accompanying lobster tail was so tough it could not be cut with the knife and was rubbery… I cannot comment on the desserts because after the entree we decided that we would not spend any more for mediocre food. At the prices they charge there should never be such bad experiences. It is very unfortunate that a restaurant who has enjoyed a fabulous reputation for its food has strayed so far from the path, it is no longer what it was.
