9. Restaurant La Mer Veille

ÎLE-AUX-COUDRES.   Ask a local to point you in the direction of the Isle's top restaurant, and chances are good they'll send you to this quaint eatery, located on the rocky south end in an attractive old home overlooking the Saint Lawrence. If you come for dinner, opt for the table d'hote, which features such nicely done entrées as filet of salmon in hollandaise sauce, seafood gratiné, and filet of trout smothered in butter and citrus. At lunch, lighter fare is available, including soups, grilled chicken, sandwiches and the chef's special. Afterwards, make sure you save some time – and space – to enjoy tea or coffee and a little homemade dessert. Dinner reservations are suggested. Open mid-April through mid-October.   (© 10Best)
