LAFAYETTE. Dedicated to bringing world-class art exhibits to Lafayette, this museum was born in the spring of 1909 and made its first major acquisition two years later with "The Cruise of Ellida" by F Luis Mora. Today, aside from a fascinating range of seasonal exhibits on loan from institutions around the world, the museum boasts a good collection of American artwork from the likes of Carl Graf, Wayman Adams, Henry Ossawa Tanner, and Frederick Judd Waugh. The museum also has in its holdings Rookwood pottery by Laura Ann Fry.
