Best Hole in the Wall Place
I've lived in Lafayette for years. I can't belive it took me so long to go vist South Street Smokehouse. This is the best hole in the wall place. Now everytime I have anyone come visit us this is a for sure place I have to take them too. Everyone loves this place! Never had a bad experience.

We ordered 5 lbs of meat from this establishment. We are out of town, so we sent our brother to pick it up. Our brother got home and said "It looks like he charged me for 12 lbs." I called the establishment only to be met with an angry manager. He told me that since he had 12 lbs written down (how can this be MY FAULT that HE WROTE DOWN the wrong number???) that he shouldn't have to lose the money. He told me he couldn't take the meat back and I was the one who was out of the money. After he got more upset with me he yelled "Come back in. Get your refund and never order from me again!" I replied "Ok, that's fine". I sent my brother back in. The owner/manager with whom I spoke took the 7 lbs of excess meat back. He threw it in the trash. Then he told my brother "I have to throw this meat away. I'm losing money and you are going to lose money. I'll give you half of it back." He wouldn't budge from there. We received 5lbs of meat and he charged us for 8. In the very least, we should have been given the option to take the extra 3 we are paying for. However, we should not have been liable for anything over 5lbs. He refuses to refund the extra money. The manner in which my brother and my husband were treated was totally uncalled for. One way or another the establishment made a mistake and verbally abused and stole from our family. It is sad to say that this buisness has lost out on ten loyal customers and we will advise other not to order from them.

This is a great, inexpensive spot that maintains a low profile but keeps everyone coming back. Nice blues tracks are playing and it's okay to make a mess with the meal; awesome food.

My daughter and her fiancé only live a few blocks from the Smokehouse. They took me there for lunch and it was GREAT!! We were so impressed, that we took our daughter back there for her 20th birthday!! My husband and our youngest daughter along with everyone else just loved it!!

I used to live in Lafayette and still visit often. Every time I go back to Lafayette I make sure I stop by and grab something off the menu. I even had them cater my wedding this year. They were very professional and made a very important day of our lives stress free. Everybody is still telling me how great the food was, Thank you South Street!
