THE STRIP. Quickly becoming one of the Strip's most desirable nightlife destinations and a haunt of A-listers in the sports and entertainment worlds, Tao brings a bit of Zen ambience to the desert. Over the main dance floor sits the DJ booth, raining down house, hip-hop, and R&B over stylish, of-the-moment patrons. An outdoor terrace and multiple bars ensure that there are plenty of pastimes on-hand.

THE STRIP. The Wynn's celebrated nightclub is as stunning as the rest of the resort, outfitted in deep brown and red tones, velvet, marble, and evocative lighting. The centerpiece is a manmade mountain with a 94-foot waterfall, not to mention waterside seating and dozens of VIP booths. In addition, a large, central dance floor gives upscale patrons opportunity to posture, groove, party and just marvel. DJs spin a mix of house, hip-hop, and Top 40, and creative cocktails get their own share of applause. Although guests often brave long lines to gain entrance, the constant presence of chic style, novelty, and celebrity make for an irresistible draw.

WEST OF THE STRIP. One of the Strip's swankiest lounges, the VooDoo spellbinds with its exclusive, dressed-to-the-nines clientele and suave bartenders who are prone to bust into juggling routines at random intervals. This chic nightspot, located at the top of the Rio Casino Resort, offers spectacularly sweeping views of the city and an open-air veranda area where patrons can enjoy a cool desert breeze and some of the Strip's most potent cocktails. In addition, each night the fabulous kitchen staff spices things up a bit with a fanciful Big Easy-style Creole menu. However, if you plan to dine, reservations are a must.

THE STRIP. Just look for the headless statue of Lenin if you're trying to find Red Square, the Mandalay Bay bar deeply concerned with all things martini. Espresso, raspberry, and chocolate are just a few of the varieties on offer; whatever your choice, keep it properly chilled on the ice bar. As you'd expect, the vodka selection is ample. Select your own bottle from the walk-in freezer, or enjoy a vodka flight at your table. Fine food, including a sampling of Russian caviars, is served to complement the impeccable libations.

EAST OF THE STRIP. Don't let the simplicity deceive you: Inside this wooden-floored, airy space, some legendary rock n' roll has taken place. Blondie, David Bowie, and Metallica have delighted fans, along with newer acts like Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory. Guitars arranged in sunburst patterns provide visual interest, and more rock memorabilia can be found throughout the venue and in the adjacent Hard Rock Hotel. Due to the layout and fairly laid-back vibe, it's not uncommon to rub elbows with celebs.

WEST OF THE STRIP. Long appreciated by locals, Sand Dollar Blues is the place to be for great blues and rock – and to catch the occasional star. The decor is simple, the music stunning, and the clientele friendly and down-to-earth. According to regulars, the lounge frequently beats out mega-venues like The Joint and House of Blues as the best place to hear live music. Lack of pretension, low cover charges, and a 24-hour, never-close policy keep the atmosphere relaxed and low key.

THE STRIP. Getting to this sleek, stylish lounge is half the fun. Take a glass elevator 64 floors up, and you'll be greeted by the curved white bar and gigantic, organically-shaped scarlet light fixture of MIX, companion to the adjacent French restaurant of the same name. Huge windows afford breathtaking views of the Strip, and the vertigo-free can venture on to the patio, where intimate tables and even beds await. Cocktails include the usual suspects; the novelty of MIX is its striking design and altitude.

THE STRIP. Inviting couches, low-slung tables, and cushy ottomans provide an ideal space to see and be seen at this hip lounge and club. Vodka and champagne are available via bottle service, but the self-billed "nouveau classic cocktails" are also popular. Pink and purple lights cast a futuristic glow over proceedings, while more visuals are built in to the technologically-savvy tables. Tabu attracts a mixed crowd of locals, high-energy tourists, and the occasional celeb – perfect for a warm-up party or as a home base for the night's activities.
