10Best's Las Vegas Attractions & Activities

-- Leigh Gauthier, 10Best Travel Editor

Sure, most people head to Las Vegas for the continuous party vibe, but there's much more to the area than neon, lounge singers and cheap buffets. The city has often tried to remind visitors of its cultural offerings and family-friendly activities, and now – amid gambling and other adults-only pursuits – people are taking advantage of the more refined attractions, including the Clark County Heritage Museum and the Imperial Palace Auto Collection. For a dose of glitz and glamour, don't miss the homage to Liberace, the man who epitomized Las Vegas style. If fine art is more your speed, the Las Vegas Art Museum and the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in the Venetian showcase treasures from around the world. Of course, casinos remain an irresistible draw, and some not-to-be-missed favorites include the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Mandalay Bay, Paris Las Vegas and the Venetian. In addition, free entertainment abounds, including the circus act at the Circus Circus, the gravity-defying water show at the Bellagio, and the show-stopping volcano eruption at the Mirage. If your eyeballs need a break from spectacle, try a serene round of golf on one of many local courses or take in a different type of scenery at nearby Red Rock Canyon.
