In previous days, Merrick Inn was a private manor house, but for more than a generation now, it's been a preferred destination for local folks, especially those in the horse industry. The interior boasts fireplaces and civilized details, and the menu offers good American standards like steaks, fresh fish, pork tenderloin, and fried chicken. When the weather's warm, the poolside patio is sublime, and the popular bar draws folks throughout the week, especially the 30- and 40-something crowd.

Worst Place I've ever been!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!!
I stopped by Merrick Inn to grab a bit to eat and also a drink or two. I came with 3 young ladies and 2 other gentlemen. There was only about 2 tables filled at Tha time so we should have gotten great service but THAT DIDNT HAPPEN. I ordered FIRST at my table then notived 3 other tables get filled. Then I noticed that everyone at my table along with THE OTHER TABLES that came in had been helped and one was almost done with their app. I also noticed that I was the ONLY AFRICAN AMERICAN in Tha place and Tha only one that had not been served. I was so upset I asked to speak with Tha manager and he was very very rude. For this reason, my party and I left and decided never to go back. It was Tha WORST SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER GOTTEN AND I AM SURE THAT THEY DONT LIKE AFRICAN AMERICAN PEOPLE THERE EITHER!!!!!!!! I wonder if they are mad about the PRESIDENT!!!!!!?

Merrick Inn is a dimly lit, over-crowded, loud, edifice where deep-fried food is served to geriatrics.

OK...I am from Lex originally and have lived in NYC since '95. When I come home to see the folks they KNOW we are eating at Merrick Inn. I grew up in this place. It has such a country club appeal with none of the pretentiousness. All of Lexington society KNOW that Merrick is the premier dining experience for the city. Sure the menu isn't creative, it;s not suppossed to be. It's authentic continental cuisine and no food is more comforting to southerners. The pool area has been expanded to fit in the new money and on game nights the riff-raff, but hey, can't we all get along. This place and the Walleye Pike and Peach Melba take me back to my youth.
