Owned by the same family who operate Merrick Inn, this appealing restaurant showcases their extensive experience and flair for dining. Located in the main house of a former estate, Murrays' is both elegant and unpretentious, suitable for special occasions and everyday meals. Try southern-fried or Tuscan chicken, opt for pepper bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin filets, tackle a 20-oz. bone-in cowboy rib-eye, or go with classic fried walleye pike. Patio dining is an excellent alternative on balmy evenings; on weekends, it features live music.

Sadly Disappointed
If you are like we were, and are using The Merrick Place as a "measuring stick" for the quality of food and service for Murray's - - don't. You will be very disappointed.
We made reservations for a party of 8 at eight o'clock Saturday, 10-17-09. When we arrived, we were told it would be another 15 minutes before our table was ready and it was suggested that we could wait in the bar. The bar was so full, you couldn't even get to it to order a drink. When we returned to the hostess to tell her we would not be waiting in the bar - she said our table was ready.
After we were seated, we ordered cocktails and appetizers. When the waitress served the appetizers, she didn't stay to make sure everything was served and received correctly - she served the appetizers and immediately left the room. If she had waited long enough to check - she would have known that we needed silverware. We waited, but had to, physically, retreave our own silverware.
Our water glasses were never filled without a request being made by our guests.
Two of the party ordered the special, Baked Halibet. The fish was either ill prepared or had sat under the warming lights for most of the evening. There was absolutely NO moisture left in the fish.
Long after a reasonable amount of time had passed, the waitress came back to check on our meals. When we told her the halibet was disappointing and extremely dry; her only reply was she was surprised because she had only received compliments all evening. She never offered to correct the problem in any manner.
And just as difficult as the fish was to swallow was the 18% automatic gratuity. When the service is shamful and the food is more than disappointing, it's insulting the establishment would ASSUME the customer may be willing to add 18% to their injury and claim they are grateful.

READ THIS: those who gave murrays a bad rating are those same people who are furious that chili's once again failed to make the skymall list of best steakhouses in america . Murrays not only has one of the best outdoor atmospheres I've seen anywhere, but it serves great southern dishes made with local ingredients. your welcome
