3. Lincoln Christmas Market

The Buzz -- Lincoln's Christmas Market is one of the biggest such markets in Europe, with over 300 stalls selling hand-crafted goods, gifts and locally produced specialist foods. Free entertainment is offered and the whole event is made more special by the beautiful backdrop of Lincoln's Cathedral and Castle. Expect Cathedral bells, carollers in Victorian costume, brass bands and Christmas lights, plus mulled wine and roasting chestnuts.
