ALFAMA. This Renaissance palace, built in 1523, derives its name from the unusual points ("bicos") comprising the equally unusual façade. An earthquake in 1755 destroyed the two top floors, which were left unrepaired until the 1980s. The ground floor is host to periodic exhibitions.
