4. Igreja de São Roque

BAIRRO ALTO. Founded in the 16th century. Most noteworthy is the phenomenal Baroque chapel named for John the Baptist, the prophet who heralded the coming of the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. The chapel was built in Rome, dismantled, and then shipped to Lisbon for reassembly in 1749. On-site museum contains a stellar collection of 16th and 17th century art.   (© 10Best)
