O Gilins is an excellent night-spot as well as a lovely daytime bar..the food (and Guinness) is top notch and great value for money..
However, what really makes the bar is the authentic Irish decor and atmosphere..some lovely pictures of Brendan Behan, Mick Collins etc as well as a huge Tricolour which hangs behind the bar next to the Portuguese flag ; a symbol which is both respectful and patriotic..
The staff are extremely helpful and polite, offering the tourist valuable help on finding their way through Lisbon..the owner is 100% Irish who will always make your stay a pleasant one and likes to enjoy a beer with fellow Irish guests (when work is done of course..)
The resident band "Melting Pot" are an amazing Irish folk-rock group who also enjoy chatting with customers on their breaks..they have a cd available for sale in the bar which I would highly reccomend adding to your collection..
In short, O Gilins is the only genuine Irish pub in Lisbon and offers a warm, enjoyable atmosphere to any tourist or ex-pat..
