More about Liverpool
Liverpool is the home of the Beatles. Fans still seek out such hallowed landmarks as the Eleanor Rigby park bench, Strawberry Fields, and the famous Cavern Club, in which the Fab Four got their start. Liverpool has generally been perceived as an unglamorous, working-class town. True, the once thriving maritime port suffered economic hardships during the 70's and 80's but a recent revitalization project, in the form of new restaurants, shops, and pubs, has brought new life to Albert Dock. The city has made strides culturally as well, boasting several fine theaters, a symphony orchestra, and the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts, which was founded by Paul McCartney. Be sure to check out Merseyside Maritime Museum, the famous Tate Gallery, and the Anglican Cathedral, which is the largest in England.
