More about Llandudno
Known as the largest seaside resort in Wales, Llandudno is nestled between the Great Orme and Little Orme headlands. The town dates back to 1854, when prominent landowner Edward Mostyn was entrusted with developing the land of this former mining and fishing community. With the help of architect Owen Williams, he designed the village as a seaside resort for Victorian vacationers. Today, visitors come to Llandudno to enjoy picturesque surroundings, local attractions, and a relaxing atmosphere. The town is currently home to the United Kingdom's longest cable car. It's also renowned for being the site where Lewis Carroll worked for Henry George Liddell. Liddell's daughter, Alice, later became Carroll's wife and was the inspiration for "Alice in Wonderland." In a nice bit of alchemy, this fascinating seaside settlement has successfully blended culture and history with the conveniences and entertainment opportunities characteristic of a popular vacation spot.
