HAMPSTEAD.
Hampstead Heath is a sprawling, tree-lined area popular with walkers, joggers, and sports enthusiasts. Surrounded by attractive residential areas, the Heath includes several widely spaced hills that often host concerts, lakeside events, and tours. The green space is also home to Kenwood House, which boasts a large collection of paintings and fine furnishings. A bit out of town, but worth the trip, particularly for special events. Simply the most beautiful green area in London and also the biggest! The Heath is in a very old part of London and you will feel that sense of history when you walk around its miles and miles of space. Other parks are small and manicured and you'll always hear the traffic from wherever you are. The Heath is so large and many parts of it are left to grow more or less as nature intended, so that you really feel like you are a million miles from the hustle and bustle of London. Thousands of people go up there in the summer to relax but you can still find a spot and not see anyone all day! Many people think the parks in South London are lovely and they are if you like tarmaced paths, fountains and symetrically arranged flower beds, but I think that if you really want to relax, be spoilt for choice for different views and get away from the City then Hampstead Heath is waiting for you!
