The Buzz -- Human rights charity Sandblast presents a folk/rock gig at CARGO, in aid of the Saharawi refugees. The concert is headlined by the celebrated ZEEP and aims to draw attention to the invisibility of the Saharawis plight.
The tropical sounds of the UK band ZEEP will be joined by Luzmira Zerpa (Venezuela) with her Afro-Latin fusion ensemble Family Atlantica, and guitarist Henry Blake (New Zealand). Zeep, who have been involved with Damon Albarn's Africa Express project, will visit the refugee camps next February to give a solidarity concert for the 10th Saharamarathon. Blake and Zerpa have both visited the camps and collaborated with Saharawi singer Aziza Brahim who performed at the 7th African Music Festival.
The proceeds will go towards a mobile recording studio in the camps aiming to give the Saharawis the means and skills to record, promote and express their rich heritage and help generate an income.
