SOHO.
If you're in Soho, it's late, AND you have an uncontrollable urge to hear great live jazz, blues or soul, chances are this groovy cocktail lounge is right up your alley. Popular with 20-somethings who appreciate the sweet sounds of improvisational music, Jazz After Dark has developed a more upbeat – and more youthful – attitude that distinguishes it from its more reserved (and dimly lit) elders. If you want to be sure of a table, reservations are suggested. TUBE: Tottenham Court Road

One of the worst experiences!!
I am a musician and been to lots of places.. The reason I went there is that it was late at nite and I wanted to listen to some music and most of the jazz venues were done with live performances. This was probably one of the saddest live performances and one of the worst places Ive been to! A very small place with practically no air and a ceiling just 10cm above your head. At the door a bouncer asked for 15pounds, and because u cant see inside , I paid for it. Although the place was crampy, I decided to wait for the band which was on intermission. Because a lot of small and crampy places can host very creative bands.. Anyway finally the band came; drums, guitar and base; well they even had a hard time to fit in the "sort of stage".. And then they started playing and everything was worse! Imagine 3 guys, like in some comedy films they get together in the garage and start playing, they feel and act like they are playing heavenly, but in reality they just dont know what they are doing.. It was just like that. Even though I spent 30min. to get there and paid 15 pounds, I couldnt even stand one song.. My cue was the drummer, for whom I had slightly more hope, dropping the sticks -both of them!- and getting all puzzled, just when he was playing a solo with his eyes closed, feeling like he was playing in Wembley:)..
Anyway, if u wanna listen to music, dont go to Jazz After Dark.. U'll be even better off listening to music from an old radio:)..
