4. Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's

MAYFAIR.   Opened in autumn of 2001, this restaurant soon established itself among the best in London, a testament to the drive and vision of Gordon Ramsay. Known for its stylish, Art Deco decor and sophisticated attitude, the restaurant manages to keep its feet firmly grounded. And, you'll be hard-pressed to find better cuisine, thanks to dishes like tian of Cromer crab with marinated avocado, confit tomatoes and a black olive tapenade; cannon of salt marsh lamb with crystallised walnuts and cumin; thyme roasted sweetbreads; and caramelised banana and bitter chocolate parfait with hazelnut mousse.
