CLERKENWELL. For the latest in paintings by young area artists, don't miss this central London gallery. It's a fun place that stays busy, probably due in part to the popular Eagle pub that sits a floor below. The gallery was founded to bring art to the uninitiated, and thanks to its location and the quality of the works (by artists like Tom Hammick and Terry Smith) it carries, it has done just that. WEST END. Founded in 1971, this gallery was London's first independent venue devoted to photography. Having grown substantially, the gallery has a reputation for displaying and selling some of the best intrenational contemporary photography. It also promotes photography throughout the UK, offering sponsorships, educational programs, exhibitions, book sales, and special events.
