Constructed late in the 18th century for the poor Catholics living in the Bogside, the Long Tower Church is believed to be the oldest Catholic Church in Derry. A brief walk around the church grounds is a rewarding experience, as is a visit to St. Columb's Well, where you'll find a statue by Marko Pogacnic.

In the sixth century, St. Columb built a monastery in what is now the city of Derry. Reportedly, St. Augustine's Church was constructed on the same site where this monastery once stood. The original church, which most likely was the place of worship for English settlers in the 17th century, was replaced in 1872 by the current version.

St. Eugene's Cathedral dates back to the latter half of the 19th century. The church's spire, which reaches nearly 80 meters in height, is one of the most visible and distinctive structures in Derry's skyline. Today, St. Eugene's is the Catholic cathedral of the diocese of Londonderry.
