9. Connetquot River State Park Preserve

Connetquot River State Park is the last wilderness preserve on Long Island. It's like stepping into a different world considering it is located in one of the most populated areas in the world. There is much to see. Wildlife abounds and the trout stream that runs through the park is a gold medal catch and release stream with literally thousands of rainbow Brook and Brown trout per mile. The river also supports a sea run Brown Trout fishery. Runs begin in October and lasts until the Spring. Many miles of hiking trails and bridle paths offer the hiker and equestrian a multitude of entertainment. Ovewrall it is a welcome if unexpected experience that should not be missed.
