BABYLON. The red-brick building that houses Argyle dates from the '40s and has been a neighborhood watering hole since 1966, first as John's Bar and then, in the '80s, as Stillman's. In all its incarnations, the corner tavern has been a favorite for terrific food and spirits and casual, laid-back charm – traits that now give the Argyle its popularity. Imported and domestic drafts are on tap (including several microbrews), and the menu boasts delish sandwiches and pub grub, plus a few surprises – macadamia nut-crusted Chilean sea bass, Delmonico ribeye, and a 24-oz. porterhouse.
